TOSHPA — The Organisation of Sierra Leonean Healthcare Professionals Abroad
We are a non-political, volunteer-driven think tank and relief organization of Sierra Leonean health professionals based abroad. Our mission is to build healthier communities in Sierra Leone by strengthening health systems, improving access to care, and supporting policy and practice reforms inspired by local needs.
What We Do
Creating change in the health sector

Health Facility Strengthening
We refurbish wards, supply essential medical equipment, and train health workers. In recent years, we supported the refurbishment of maternity wards in Freetown and Makeni, providing new beds, essential supplies, and improving hygiene standards for safer maternal and newborn care.

Community Health Education & Outreach
We run health education campaigns in schools and communities, addressing issues such as teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, hypertension, diabetes, and hygiene. Our outreach sessions are delivered in both English and local languages to reach every section of the community.

Health Relief & Emergency Response
During health crises, we mobilize resources and skilled professionals to provide timely support. From supplying PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic to delivering medicines and equipment during outbreaks, we stand with communities when they need us most

Policy Dialogue & Advocacy
We engage with government bodies, NGOs, and international partners to strengthen health policies in Sierra Leone. Our advocacy has contributed to better recognition of diaspora healthcare professionals in shaping national health strategies.
Our impacts
Improving Health Facilities
For nine years now Toshpa has revamped the health sector in Sierra Leone.
We have worked across the various districts of Sierra Leone provisioning support to nurses and medical personnel. We provide hospital equipments and engage nurses for a healthier care in the communities.
