Bo District Stakeholders Join in Launch of Nurse-Led Diabetes Clinic
Bo, Sierra Leone — The official launching of the nurse-led Diabetes Clinic brought together key Bo District stakeholders, the District Health Management Team (DHMT), and Bo Government Hospital staff, marking a collaborative milestone in the region’s healthcare advancement.
The initiative, championed by The Organisation of Sierra Leonean Healthcare Professionals Abroad (TOSHPA), represents a groundbreaking step toward strengthening the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Sierra Leone.
During the event, district leaders and hospital representatives commended the nurse-led model for its innovative approach to improving access to diabetes care and community health education. The clinic, established within the Bo Government Hospital, will offer screening, counseling, treatment, and patient support services — led entirely by trained nursing professionals.
“This clinic shows the power of partnership and the vital role nurses play in community health,” said one district representative. “It’s a model that should be replicated across the country.”
The Bo District Health Management Team reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the clinic’s operations and ensuring its sustainability through ongoing technical guidance and collaboration with TOSHPA and the Ministry of Health.
The event underscored the shared vision of bringing quality, accessible, and patient-centered diabetes care to every community in Sierra Leone.
